The basic existential terms of endometriosis

The two basic existential terms of life that are particularly affected by chronic illness and pain are the feeling of isolation and the feeling of meaninglessness. Some people work through and resolve these feelings on their own, but others need help. Still, it can be helpful to know that it is not unusual to experience these thoughts and feelings.

What is important is that you learn to carry your endometriosis and pain with you, while doing the things in life that are important to you. You can start by asking yourself what you would do with your life if you were not in pain? What would we see you do if you did not have endometriosis? If you were not tired / sad / and so forth. How can life with endometriosis and all that it entails make sense to you?

Everything that is important to you on a deeper level reflects your values. Values help give life meaning. They are part of you and who you are - your identity.

That is why it is important to identify and express which values are important to you, so you can live a life in accordance with your values despite endometriosis and pain. The work of identifying your values in life will therefore be part of the program going forward, along with mindfulness exercises and yoga.
