Interdisciplinary pain treatment
The treatment of chronic pain is a symptom treatment that takes place after having attempted to treat the cause of the pain (in this case, endometriosis).
The best results are often achieved with an interdisciplinary pain treatment approach. This approach aims to relieve the pain but also to reduce its negative impact on different life areas. Psychological pain treatment/management should always be part of the interdisciplinary treatment of chronic pain.
Psychological pain management

Psychological pain management is the treatment of pain with specific psychological methods aimed at reducing the experience of pain and its detrimental impact on the person's life. As mentioned above, psychological factors play a major role in the experience of pain and can make it worse but also better. Therefore, it is often beneficial to include both physical, psychological, and social factors in the treatment of chronic pain as a supplement to medical and/or surgical treatment.
For some people, the negative impacts of the pain can be so severe that it is even more detrimental to the quality of life than the pain itself. Psychological pain management can therefore also be focused on reducing the negative impact of chronic pain on quality of life.
