Your health and well-being values
We continue with the values work, zooming in on the values related to the life areas of health and well-being:
- Physical health
- Psychological/mental health
- Velvære
Value compass for health and wellbeing
Think about what is important to you in each of the above life areas of health and well-being. What direction do you want your life to take in each area? Try to identify the values behind that direction and fill out the schema (attached below) with the three most important values in each life area.
Feel free to find inspiration on the values sheet.
Remember that living in accordance with your values is not about doing what you think you should do or what you think others expect of you. It is about doing what makes you feel good, feel vital, and alive.
Completing the values compass
Once you have selected the three most important values in each life area, rate on a scale from 0-10 how important each value is in that life area (Importance). The higher the number you choose, the more important the value is.
Next, on a scale from 0-10, rate the extent to which you feel this value is present in this life area right now, or how much you are currently living in accordance with this value (Reality).
Finally, calculate the difference between importance and reality. The difference reflects how much you are currently living in alignment with your values in each life area, or how much you need to change in order to live more in alignment with your values.
The bigger the difference/value, the further away from your values you are living.
Next week in session 9 called "Values-based action" we will use the values you have identified as important to you in the past three weeks in different areas of life. We will use the values and your assessment of importance and reality to create a plan for "Committed Action", i.e., what you can concretely change in your life to live more in line with your values.
